Boosterthon Fun Run (Support Ciera Cameron!)

Over the weekend, I received an email from my cousin Idalia. She lives in South Carolina and her daughter Ciera just started kindergarten.

 First day of school...so exciting :)

Ciera's school is participating in a fundraiser called Boosterthon Fun Run. Instead of the usual wrapping paper catalogs or chocolate bars, the children will be participating in a "marathon" run. How cool is that?!
The goal is promote health, fitness and leadership.
Idalia contacted me to help support Ciera. I also thought it would be an awesome opportunity to share it with you guys, as well, and give you all a chance to support her!
We are asking for pledges to support Ciera for every lap she successfully completes. Boosterthon states most students run 25-35 laps. The maximum allowed is 35 laps. This number is an average from K-5th graders...this can be used for determining your maximum contribution.
You can pledge $1, $2, etc. per lap she completes or you can make a one time flat rate donation of any dollar amount you wish. Any contribution you make is tax deductible.
The pledge money is due one week after the event which is scheduled for October 11, 2012. Checks can be made payable to River Dell Elementary.
Boosterthon also has a perk in the program called "Pass it Forward". Once Ciera reaches $7 per lap in donations a child in the local children's hospital will receive a basketball hoop set.
I love that idea!!

Here is some background info about this unique and awesome program for kids
(from their website):
The Boosterthon Fun Run is a 9-day, values-based fundraising program that teaches students about Fitness, Leadership, and Character. This year's Boosterthon character campaign is Highway USA! Students will be "on the road to good choices," learning what it means to make the choices that count. Students will learn to:
  • Choose Leadership
  • Choose Character
  • Choose Learning
  • Choose Fitness
  • Choose A Good Attitude
I am so excited about this cool program...isn't it awesome?! Wish we had this in school. Those catalogs were the death of me lol

If you will like to support Ciera in her run, please go here to pledge!

Fabric Fun Friday: Scrap Projects!

Happy Friday everyone!

I am excited to bring you another infamous Fabric Fun Friday post, yay :) Lately I have been obsessed with creations out of fabric scraps...I have some projects around my home that I want to work on this fall/winter season with scraps I have.

Here are some project ideas and inspirational photos I've found for ya! Click photos for the original link!

Curtain Call Add pretty curtains to a console table to hide storage. Make curtains by sewing a rod pocket, or use fusible webbing for a no-sew option. Embellish with a ribbon or a strip of coordinating scrap fabric along the bottom edge. Hang the curtains between the table legs using tension rods

End of Summer {Blog Hop}

Oh yeah, I'm totally cool...
Yes. Yes you are, my son.

And so are all you awesome people out there!!

Which is why I wanted to host my first ever blog hop! I know we are all bummed out because summer is over...the pools are closing and the last popsicles are being eaten *sigh*
But that doesn't mean the fun is over!

I hope this works and is successful...though I love writing and posting about my thoughts, faith etc, I also love helping people, whether online or off. Let's cut to the good stuff and start mingling, shall we?

The "End of Summer Blog Hop" is co-hosted by this lovely lady, a special and close bloggy BFF, The Mrs. Megan Volnoff:

She is such an awesome person! We were both preggers at the same time and I truly believe God put us together to have someone to share all the fun {and not so fun} experiences with. We are real together, open, honest, pray for one another, encourage and uplift...man, I love her :) Someday, we will meet in person and our husbands can chat about how crazy their wives are hehe

Here are the rules:
1.) Please follow my blog by either by GFC or Email
2.) Please follow my sweet CO-HOST {The Mrs.}
3.) Link up! Share a blog post or just your main url.
{Just please, keep it Jesus & family friendly :)}
4.) Be sure to "hop" around & meet some cool new folks!!!

Enjoy your last week of August xoxo
