Sunday Devotion: Tapping Into Potential

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them:
because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."
1John 4:4

You are tired. You are worn out. You don't feel like you can go on. You're done.

Many days we feel like this, like the world just backhanded us into another dimension. Sometimes, we forget who we are and even worse, who we serve...and no, the answer is not ourselves. The answer is Jesus.

In 1 John 4:4, we are encouraged to look beyond these obstacles towards the One who has given us the power to overcome because He in fact overcame the world. So why is it we don't tap into this potential for greatness? This, if you will, potential within us?

Today, I want to encourage someone that you don't have to continue living under the weight of the bricks of life. Jesus came into the world to free us, that through Him we may be saved and made whole. Tired? Worn Out? Can't go on? Ready to throw in the towel? Don't do it! You cannot give up because Jesus never gave up on you! He paid the full price and never turned around. That's how much He loves you!

My pastor always says that potential is nothing if it is not being used. It is just idle. Take a moment, right now, to thank God for placing great potential within you even if you don't feel it. He has a reason for it! He made you in His image and likeness...surely there is great potential in that alone! How do you tap into that potential within? Seek the Lord in prayer and read His Word. Get into His presence and allow Him to change your heart. You will find unlimited energy to survive and peace in the midst of trials.

So tap in, today. Don't wait another second because you may not have this time again to reflect on this. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. God is waiting to do something great within you and around you, but it is you that have to see and respond to His voice. Be encouraged...there is only one way you can go when you tap into your potential through the Lord Jesus Christ...UP!!
